In August 2022 Olds College of Agriculture & Technology unveiled a new brand. With a successful rebrand underway, the college is now moving towards updating their sub brands under a unified “branded house” approach. The first sub brand to be updated was AgSmart.
AgSmart, Olds College’s Ag Tech Educational Expo will stage the 5th anniversary edition on July 30 & 31 2024. I was given the assignment of creating a brand that would be clearly part of the Olds College family. I focused on the hexagon element within the logo, and broke it down further to an equilateral triangle. Using this basic geometry, along with the Olds College logo font and brand colors, I created a logo that combined agriculture and technology, framed in a universally recognized symbol for play, a right facing triangle. The triangle evokes forward progress and digital multimedia technology. The lines evoke circuits, and also appears to cascade like rain or irrigation. The 3 main background colors in the triangle symbolize sun, water, and air.
The triangle motif is being used as a graphic element throughout AgSmart marketing materials for visual interest, as a framing device, and to reinforce the brand visual.
